In front of a crowd of thousands, a London police officer got down on one knee to propose to his boyfriend during the city’s 43rd annual Pride parade on Saturday.

The parade briefly came to a standstill as the uniformed officer walking over to his partner, who was watching the parade from behind a barricade. Crowds cheered as the officer took off his police helmet, got down on one knee and proposed.

A heartwarming moment photographed by scores of attendees, the successful proposal was followed by another, this time involving two uniformed police officers who were in the parade.

The officer also said yes, according to the MET LGBT Network, a new staff association for LGBT members of London’s Metropolitan Police service.

More than 40,000 people joined this year’s Pride parade. Same-sex marriage has been legal in the U.K. since 2014.
