2. B.C. bus crash: Several people were injured, some critically, after a tour bus crashed on a mountain highway in British Columbia Thursday afternoon. It appears the bus, which was carrying 56 people from the Okanagan to the Lower Mainland, may have rolled over.

Canadian jets move closer to Russia: The presence of Russian soldiers in southeastern Ukraine “is unacceptable, irresponsible and absolutely reckless,” Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird said Thursday, the same day reports suggested Canadian fighter jets will soon be on patrol closer to Russian airspace. The international mission is designed to protect Eastern Europe allies amidst Russia’s ongoing incursion into eastern Ukraine, which heated up Thursday with reports of Russian soldiers in the southeast.

4. Joan Rivers hospitalized: Legendary comedian Joan Rivers was rushed to a New York hospital in critical condition on Thursday, after she went into distress during a procedure at an endoscopy clinic. Rivers, 81, was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was later listed in stable condition. In a statement late Thursday, her daughter Melissa thanked the public for their “outpouring of love and support” and said her mother was resting comfortably.

5. Sunwing passenger granted bail: A Sunwing passenger was granted bail Thursday afternoon after allegedly disrupting a Cuba-bound plane and forcing it to return to Toronto, with the accompaniment of two military jets. The female passenger was one of two people allegedly involved in the incident. Flight 656 was bound for Varadero, Cuba, on Wednesday, but the pilot decided to turn the plane around over South Carolina after the pair allegedly triggered a smoke alarm by lighting cigarettes, fought with each other and made a “threat against the aircraft.”
