TORONTO - A funeral and memorial will be held in Toronto this week for former Platinum Blonde bassist Kenny MacLean, who was found dead last week in his apartment just days after performing at a CD release show.

His family said in a release that a post mortem indicated he died of natural causes.

Those wishing to pay tribute to MacLean are being asked to donate to a special fund that will support scholarships at Humber College's School of Creative and Performing Arts.

His family says it's a fitting tribute to honour his lifelong passion for music.

MacLean was preparing to release his third solo CD and his band was in the midst of planning a long-awaited reunion gig.

MacLean's funeral and memorial are scheduled for Thursday.
