There’s no limit to what some hockey fans will do to show support for their favourite team.

Take Winnipeg couple Justine and Jeremy Welwood, who named their baby boy after the Winnipeg Jets.

Jett came into the world Monday night at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg.

Funnily enough, the couple wasn’t expecting Jett to be a boy. But male or female, they had the name picked out months ago.

“Of course, I really like the Jets,” Jeremy said. “I’m a big hockey player my whole life.”

The proud dad added: “We just decided it was such a cute name, we just had to.”

Maybe little Jett’s arrival will bring some luck to the team, which is making its first playoff appearance since 1996.

And while Jett may be just a bit too small for the ice right now, Jeremy said he would “love” for his son to try on a pair of hockey skates.
