After decades of tradition, the Toronto Maple Leafs are planning to show off a new look.

In a statement on the club's website, the team said Saturday that its signature maple leaf crest has undergone a redesign, which will be revealed on Tuesday.

The new logo and sweater, which will be worn by players during the 2016-17 season, are being released as part of the franchise's centennial celebrations.

The Leafs have used the current iteration of its blue-and-white emblem since the 1987-88 season, and it has not undergone a major overhaul since 1970.

Its most drastic transformation occurred prior to the 1967 Stanley Cup playoffs and saw the number of points on its iconic maple leaf reduced from 35 to 11, to resemble the one seen on the Canadian flag.
