Leafs recall Gauthier as Michalek goes down with injury

TORONTO -- The Toronto Maple Leafs have recalled forward Frederik Gauthier from their AHL affiliate on an emergency basis.

Forward Milan Michalek will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, the team said Saturday in a release.

Gauthier has 17 points (six goals, 11 assists) in 54 games with the Toronto Marlies this season. He was selected by Toronto with the 21st overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

Michalek has 16 points (7-9) in 45 games with the Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators this season.

Entering Saturday's home game against Detroit, the Maple Leafs were last in the Eastern Conference standings with 67 points.
