A revamp of Google Shopping should help take the stress and the strain out of finding the right gifts for loved ones this holiday season.

The updated features include what Google calls holiday shortlists -- curated lists of gift ideas whether you're searching for toys, apps, home gifts or something for that most difficult of recipient, your other half.

The lists also allow users to see what's ‘trending', something which could come in very handy when trying to pick toys in particular.

As well as lists, searches can be conducted by item and images and information about a product viewed - there's even a 360° view option.

Clicking on an item will also reveal whether it's in stock at local retailers -- a must-have for anyone viewing on a smartphone in particular and forced to brave the crowds and physical stores. But everything works just as well on the desktop meaning that there's no need to leave the house, unless you really want to.

Keeping track of gifts that catch the eye is easy too as the portal encourages you to draw up shortlists -- which can be shared with friends and family for their input and recently viewed items remain visible at the top of the web page -- so make sure the kids aren't peering over your shoulder or else you'll spoil their surprise.
