Police were called to the Nova Scotia legislature Thursday afternoon after an MLA accused a cabinet minister of assaulting him outside a washroom.

“I feel that I was assaulted and that’s inappropriate action,” Liberal MLA Keith Colwell told reporters after an alleged incident involving Economic Development Minister Percy Paris.

CTV Atlantic’s Rick Grant reported that the incident happened outside a washroom in an area restricted to MLAs and their staff.

Grant reported that a third MLA stepped in and separated Paris and Colwell. No other details were immediately available.

Paris was expected to address the allegation later Thursday afternoon.

Police arrived at the legislature around 4 p.m. local time to investigate.
