A North Carolina mother fed up with her two adult sons battling over U.S. politics recently let them know it – on live cable television.

Joy Woodhouse, of Raleigh, N.C., phoned into a political affairs program on cable network C-SPAN, where sons Brad and Dallas Woodhouse were disagreeing over politics – as usual -- and talking about their documentary, “Woodhouse Divided.”

Apparently fed up with the hostile discourse between her two sons – who are known for being polar opposites on the U.S. political spectrum -- Joy chided them on-air for bringing their heated debates home for holidays past.

“I am hoping you’ll have some of this out of your system when you come here for Christmas,” Joy said to her surprised sons. “I would really like a peaceful Christmas and I love you both.”

Pointing out that the phone call was unplanned, the host went with it, asking her what it was like to raise “these two boys.”

“Well it hasn’t been easy,” she said. “Their dad and I both love politics.”

Joy Woodhouse said she was proud of her sons for being “passionate about what they believe in,” reiterating that she hopes they get it out of their system.

To which one son responded: “That is wishful thinking.”

But they thanked their mother for calling in anyway.

“See you next weekend.”
