Philippe Couillard's Liberals won three ridings they previously held with candidates in Beauce-Sud as well as the Montreal-area ridings of Fabre and Saint-Henri-Sainte-Anne emerging victorious.

Meanwhile, the PQ were winners in the northeastern Quebec riding of Rene-Levesque, a longtime stronghold for the party.

The governing Liberals now have 71 seats in the legislature, compared to 29 for the PQ, 20 for the Coalition for Quebec's Future and three seats for Quebec Solidaire.
