TORONTO - An Ontario public school board is the latest embroiled in controversy over the distribution of Gideon Bibles.

The Bluewater board is trying to decide whether to ban the tradition or come up with a new, inclusive policy.

Critics argue the practice has no place in a secular education system.

Supporters say no one is forced to accept a Gideon Bible, and say they don't want to see further erosion of their Christian faith.

For the first time, one school district in Nunavut last month decided to allow the distribution, while another district in the terrority nixed the idea.

And there is still a human rights complaint pending from a parent opposed to the practice in Ontario's Niagara Region.
