In the spirit of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, Toronto East General Hospital has been live-tweeting a prostate cancer surgery, to get men talking about the disease.

Urologist Dr. Rajiv Singal performed the surgery to remove the prostate of a patient in his 50s, known only as "Mr. P," using a state-of-the-art robot.

The operation began at 7:30 a.m. ET and wrapped up just after noon.

The event is timed to coincide with Movember, when men grow moustaches to raise awareness about and money for prostate cancer research each November.
