One of Hollywood’s most notorious bad boys has offered embattled Toronto Mayor Rob Ford his "steady hand” as revelations about his alleged drug and alcohol use continue to rock city hall.

In a statement posted on Twitter, Sheen lashed out after a fake article reported that the actor said Ford was unfit to lead Canada’s biggest city and called on him to resign.

The article, which describes an encounter between a reporter and Sheen in Toronto, was posted Wednesday by “The Daily Currant,” which bills itself as the “Global Satirical Newspaper of Record.”

Sheen, seemingly unaware that the publication is satire, called the story “repulsive” and apologized to Ford for “any grief” it may have caused.

“Your personal life is and never would be, any of my business,” Sheen added. “I’m sorry for any grief this may have caused. If I can be of any assistance in any capacity in this media cesspool, please accept the noble offer of my steady hand and compassionate heart.”

Sheen, who has a history of personal battles with substance abuse, came under similar scrutiny in 2011 after a highly publicized breakdown involving erratic behaviour and drug use.

Sheen was eventually fired from his show “Two and a Half Men.” He now plays a therapist in the sitcom “Anger Management.”

The satirical article and Sheen’s tweet come as Ford faced more pressure to resign. Ford apologized Thursday, hours after making lewd statements to the media outside his office at city hall.
