ORLANDO, Fla. -- The woman who was riding with Justin Bieber in a Lamborghini when he was arrested in South Florida has sued the New York Daily News, accusing the newspaper of libel.

Attorney Andew Parker Felix filed the lawsuit Tuesday in Orange County Circuit Court on behalf of Chantel Jeffries. She is described in court papers as a student, model and entrepreneur.

The lawsuit claims Daily News stories posted on its website after the Jan. 23 incident falsely reported she had a criminal record and that she instigated a drag race between Bieber and R&B singer Khalil Amir Sharieff, who was driving a Ferrari. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages and an order preventing future false stories about Jeffries.

The Daily News legal department and a spokesman for the newspaper didn't immediately respond to requests for comment Tuesday.
