A Toronto concert will see Blue Rodeo frontman Jim Cuddy, Grammy nominee Alan Frew and Canadian jazz musician Matt Dusk take the stage to support rebuilding efforts in Fort McMurray.

The concert will take place at Roy Thompson Hall on Monday.

Residents of the fire-ravaged community began returning to their homes earlier this month, following a massive evacuation that saw more than 80,000 individuals flee Fort McMurray wildfires spread into residential areas.

Dusk said almost all of the proceeds of the concert will be donated to the Canadian Red Cross to help rebuilding efforts in Fort McMurray.

"All the artists are giving 100 per cent of their time, so we're trying to raise as much money as possible," he told CTV News Channel on Monday morning.

Dusk said $125,000 had already been raised.

"We're hoping to much surpass that," he added.

The Toronto-born artist said he's experienced flooding in his own home, and he can relate to the feeling of losing your possessions.

"When you see something on the news, it doesn't really give the human quality to what is going on and the stress of everything, especially when you lost everything," Dusk said. "It's nice to know that there are people out there that will assist you."

Another Fort McMurray benefit concert, Fire Aid, will take place in Edmonton on Wednesday that will feature Canadian rockers Nickelback, City and Colour and Blue Rodeo.
