Adele’s first album in almost five years debuted Friday, and while the new songs on “25” touch on themes of regret, nostalgia and sorrow, the superstar crooner tells CTV’s etalk that they also have a positive spin.

"’25" is about how I make myself feel, as opposed to how a horrible boyfriend makes me feel,” the Grammy-winning singer told etalk co-anchor Danielle Graham.

The one-on-one interview, a North American exclusive, will air Friday night as part of a special etalk episode, to be followed by a one-hour special, "Adele Live In London," on CTV and CTV GO.

The special, filmed earlier this month in front of a studio audience at the BBC’s London studios, will see the songstress perform new tracks from "25," as well as hits from her other albums, "19" and "21."

The highly anticipated album is already receiving plenty of praise from critics and is predicted to sell well over 1 million copies in its debut week. Adele told etalk that it was nerve-wracking trying to follow up the massive success of 2011’s “21.” But at 27, she says she wanted her songs to deal with more grown-up topics.

"This record is all about myself and it’s about yearning for myself, and for my friends and for my childhood and stuff like that,” she told Graham.

“It’s a bit frightening, I’m only ever going to be an adult now. I’m not going to be a kid again!”

The new album already appears poised to a huge seller. Its first single, “Hello,” broke the Vevo record for most streams in a day with 27.7 million, broke Billboard records by selling more than 1.11 million copies in a week, and, as Graham joked, it came close to breaking the Internet.

“Yeah, I did a Kim Kardashian,” the singer told etalk with a laugh.

“Thank God it wasn’t with my ass! It would have actually broken the Internet if it was with my bum!”

“etalk Presents: Adele Live in London” airs Friday Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. ET/PT on CTV.
