ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Kathy Dunderdale is expected to meet today with the CEO of Kruger -- the owner of a troubled paper mill in Corner Brook.

The meeting with Joseph Kruger is to take place in St. John's.

The Montreal-based company is reassessing the viability of its Corner Brook pulp and paper operations.

Kruger had been seeking to repay a deficit in the pension plan for unionized workers at the mill over 10 years instead of the normal period of five years.

But workers rejected the proposed changes.

Corner Brook Pulp and Paper is the last paper mill to continue operating in Newfoundland.

There have been a series of shutdowns in other communities in recent years.
