A worker injured in an explosion at an industrial facility in Sarnia, Ont. over the weekend has died of his injuries.

The male worker, who has not been publicly identified, was injured when a dust collection system located outside the building at Veolia ES Canada Industrial Services exploded on Saturday afternoon.

The explosion left a giant hole in a wall of the plant, and caused significant structural damage, CTV London reported.

One employee was suffering severe burns and had to be airlifted to a London, Ont. hospital, where he died on Monday.

Four other workers were injured in the blast, and remain in hospital.

While the Ministries of Labour and Environment investigate, the facility and the road leading into it remain closed. No chemicals were released during the explosion.
