Toronto police have identified a 21-year-old suspect the day after a man was stabbed in the heart after bumping into a stranger while texting.

Aria Kahafizadeh, 33, was walking and sending text messages on his phone on Yonge Street, near Edward Street, at approximately 12:30 a.m. Police said he inadvertently bumped into two men while looking at his phone.

The bump led to a violent attack, which was captured on a surveillance camera from a nearby business. One of the men Kahafizadeh bumped into produced a knife and stabbed him several times, piercing his heart, police said.

Kahafizadeh suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to St. Michael's Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

One of the two men, 27-year-old Mohamed Ali, was arrested hours after the stabbing and was charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.

Police say the other suspect who had the knife is still at large. They are looking for 21-year-old Cory Galea, who is described as white, 5-foot-8 with short, dark hair and a chin-strap beard. Police said he may be familiar to people who frequent the area near Yonge and Dundas Streets.
