Police have arrested a second teenager and are on the lookout for a third suspect after an elderly Quebec couple was kidnapped from their home.

Quebec provincial police say a 70-year-old woman and a 65-year-old man were held at gunpoint and forced to leave their cottage near Maniwaki, Que. on Friday.

The couple was driven about 150 kilometres southwest to a barn in L’Isle-aux-Allumettes, near Pembroke, Ont., where they were tied up.

The suspects then fled in the couple’s car.

A 16-year-old was arrested shortly after police found the abandoned car in Pembroke on Saturday morning and a 17-year-old later surrendered to police in Quebec.

The victims managed to untie themselves and get to a nearby road where they flagged down a passing motorist. The two were admitted to hospital with minor injuries.

Investigators are trying to determine if a third person was involved in the kidnapping.

Police have not said whether the suspects used a real gun or a fake one or speculated on a motive.
