SLOCAN CITY, B.C. - RCMP in British Columbia are urging the suspect in a shooting incident in the village of Slocan to contact them so they can talk.
Peter DeGroot, 45, is a suspect in an altercation that occurred in the southern interior community on Thursday.
Police were called about a dispute between two people, which resulted in an exchange of gunfire with officers.
No one was injured but residents have been advised to stay in their homes until DeGroot, who police consider armed and dangerous, is captured or turns himself in.
More than 40 officers are searching for him in the forests surrounding Slocan.
Neighbours describe DeGroot as a soft-spoken loner who loved his animals that included cows, pigs and chickens.
