TRURO, N.S. -- RCMP in Nova Scotia have arrested escaped prisoner Marc Joseph Pellerin.
Police say officers responding to a burglary alarm at a drilling company in Stewiacke, roughly 30 kilometres south of Truro, discovered a vehicle had been stolen from the property.
While en route to the alarm, police received a call about people trying to get a vehicle out of a ditch.
Police say a short time later, a man was seen walking along the road but he fled into the woods when officers tried to speak with him.
The 43-year-old Moncton man was arrested after a foot chase in the woods.
Police say Pellerin escaped from the sheriff's van in the parking lot of the Truro Justice Centre on Friday afternoon as he was being transferred from New Brunswick to Halifax for a Monday court appearance.
Pellerin was awaiting a court appearance on a variety of charges, including theft of a motor vehicle, theft over $5,000, break and enter, possession of stolen property, evading police, unsafe storage of a firearm and resisting arrest.
Pellerin had previously escaped a police vehicle in May but was quickly captured.
