LONGUEUIL, Que. - A Quebec man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with an attack on a female jogger in a provincial park near Montreal.

Yves Roy, 46, of Ste-Julie has also been arraigned on charges of forcible confinement and overcoming resistance by strangulation.

Longueuil police say Roy was arrested near his home last Friday, exactly two weeks after the attack on the woman Sept. 2 at Mont-St-Bruno.

Police released a composite sketch of a suspect after the incident, which they had been investigating as an attempted murder.

Assistant police chief Mario Plante says tip No. 204 out of some 450 led investigators to Roy.

Plante says investigators will now check to see whether Roy can be tied to a number of unresolved cases.
