An Ottawa daycare operator convicted last year of sexually abusing young girls in his care is now facing new charges, including public nudity and mischief to property.

Jeffrey Wills, 42, was arrested on Thursday at his home in the city’s west end after police received a call about a naked man in the area.

“The individual was seen by the victim on Oct. 17 and multiple times on (Oct.) 18 and 19,” Ottawa police Const. Chuck Benoit told CTV Ottawa on Friday.

Wills’ most recent arrest has raised concerns among residents in the Nepean neighbourhood.

“My wife happened to come home at the time and saw two police cars outside and that’s all we know,” said one neighbour.

Last year, Wills, who ran a daycare out of his home, was convicted of sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching and exposure to a person under 16 years of age, involving 3 and 5 year old girls in his care. Wills was sentenced to 5 years in prison in August 2015.

He launched an appeal and was released on bail a few weeks ago.

Ottawa police have laid nine new charges against the former daycare operator, including three counts of public nudity, three counts of mischief to property and three counts of breach of a recognizance order.

Wills appeared in court on Friday morning. His bail hearing is set for Oct. 26.
