A 25-year-old man has been arrested in British Columbia after allegedly going on a crime spree that involved four stolen boats, a can of pineapple juice, and a lot of blood.

Mounties say the series of incidents that began on June 29 on Vancouver Island and ended roughly 70 kilometres away on July 3, may have been fuelled by methamphetamine.

"We'd expect this sort of crime spree to happen in a James Bond movie perhaps but not in the waters of coastal British Columbia," Const. Harrison Mohr of the Sunshine Coast RCMP told CTV News Vancouver.

The Sunshine Coast RCMP said in a news release that it started when a man stole a 16-foot fibreglass boat from Cobble Hill on Vancouver Island, before being spotted in another boat in nearby Cowichan Bay later that day.

Three days later, the trail moved to B.C.'s Sunshine Coast, when the man pulled up to a dock in Sechelt aboard a 27-foot Boston Whaler, which had been reported stolen from Salt Spring Island, along the B.C. Gulf Island chain.

Police say he quickly abandoned the boat and proceeded to steal a car to make a getaway.

From Sechelt, Mounties say the man made his way to the little town of Gibsons and stole another Boston Whaler, a smaller 22-foot vessel, before heading to Keats Island and purloining a 19-foot Campion Explorer on July 3.

It appears the man then crashed into rocks in the middle of the night on Bowen Island. Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue who found that abandoned vessel say it was heavily damaged, and contained an unopened bag of chips.

"It looked like someone (had) been extremely, badly injured having gone through the windshield,” Jane Maisonville-Phillips with the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue told CTV Vancouver.

“There was a lot of blood splattered and a broken windshield over the driver side," she said.

From there, it appears the man stumbled into a Bowen Island cabin, where he was found by the owner.

"The gentleman looked around his property and found him sleeping in his bed," said Maisonville-Phillips.

The suspect had a serious gash on his forehead and was drinking from a can of pineapple juice, the owner told CTV.

The suspect was taken to hospital for treatment and then transported to jail in North Vancouver. Charges are still pending.

Police say the man, who is “very well known” to them, was found with several items of stolen property as well as a small amount of a substance they believe is methamphetamine.
