An RCMP helicopter crew has spotted a 33-year-old Vancouver snowboarder who went missing last Sunday.
The crew saw the man waving wildly from a mountainside just before 6 p.m. Tuesday.
There were no immediate reports of his condition.
He is believed to have gone out of bounds Sunday while snowboarding at Cypress Mountain, just north of Vancouver.
"This person was not prepared … for the area where he is and he would have gone under ropes and passed fencing and warning signs," said West Vancouver Police Const. Tammy Khorram.
The man was missing for two nights in treacherous terrain, during conditions that included heavy snow and freezing temperatures.
He sent text messages and a voicemail Monday that sounded incoherent, raising concerns that hypothermia was setting in.
The search had resumed Tuesday after Monday's efforts were hampered by low cloud cover that limited the ability to search via helicopter. Two separate crews carried out searches on the ground, with exhausted searchers calling off efforts by nightfall Monday before resuming at first light.
