TORONTO -- Faculty at Ontario's 24 colleges have ratified a new contract in a province-wide vote.

The agreement was negotiated between the Colleges' Bargaining Team and the Ontario Public Service Employees Union.

The colleges say unofficial results indicate approximately 61 per cent of votes were cast in favour of the agreement.

The Ontario Labour Relations Board will confirm the vote results.

College faculty agreed to a three-year deal with a 1.2 per cent salary increase in the first year, 1.5 per cent in the second year, and 1.8 per cent in the third year.

The parties mutually agreed to address some staffing, benefits, and workload issues.
