Three Quebec teachers suffered burns to their bodies following an explosion during a breakfast event at a high school cafeteria.

The explosion happened at approximately 8 a.m. Monday at Ecole Secondaire De L’Envol in Saint-Nicolas, located approximately 15 kilometres south of Quebec City.

Police said a caterer at the event was changing a propane burner when the explosion happened.

The teachers suffered non-life-threatening burns to their faces, arms and torsos.

Investigators have not determined the cause of the blast.

No students were at the school at the time of the explosion.
