Lisa LaFlamme has won the President's Award at the Radio Television Digital News Association Awards, recognizing her decades of distinguished reporting on Canadian airwaves.

LaFlamme, who is chief news anchor and senior editor of CTV National News, was presented the RTDNA 2016 President’s Award for her achievement in journalism at a ceremony in Toronto on Friday night.

LaFlamme’s storied career has taken her across the globe, from covering war-torn regions in the Middle East to reporting on the aftermath of the recent terror attacks in Paris. She has served in several roles at CTV News, including host of CTV’s Canada AM and foreign correspondent for CTV National News.

“As a curious, passionate and determined storyteller Ms. LaFlamme has afforded Canadians the opportunity to understand many of the world’s complexities,” said RTDNA President Ian Koenigsfest in a statement when the award was announced.

President of CTV News Wendy Freeman congratulated LaFlamme on her success.

“Lisa’s unwavering commitment to the foundational tenets of good journalism coupled with a passion for strong storytelling make her a truly inspiring member of the CTV News family. We couldn’t be more proud,” Freeman said.

The award is presented each year to honour a person or group who has made significant contributions to electronic journalism in Canada.

Past recipients of the President’s Award include general manager of CTV News Channel and CTVNews.ca Lis Travers, former CTV News chief anchor and senior editor Lloyd Robertson, and CTV chief political commentator Craig Oliver.
