NANAIMO, B.C. - Canadian thieves have handed a rude welcome to a group of young, orphaned HIV-AIDS survivors from Kampala, Uganda.

RCMP in Nanaimo, B.C., say thieves broke into the bus carrying the Watoto (wuh-TOW'-tow) Children's Choir after the choir performed in the Vancouver Island city.

Mounties say cash and several iPads were stolen.

They say there is very little evidence that would help officers track the criminals, although one of the iPads was recovered early Friday morning in a house that investigators say is known to them.

Police are urging anyone with information about the robbery to come forward.

The Watoto Children's Choir has just started a six-month tour of Canada and has appearances in Courtenay, Comox and Campbell River this weekend.
