Last month we learned that McLaren will release a track-only version of its P1 supercar. Now we have a good idea of what it will look like thanks to an official sketch released on Friday that shows the supercar’s extreme design.

From the sketch, it seems that the design's focus is at the rear of the car, where a huge diffuser and wing work together to increase downforce under the car. The exhaust outlets have also been extended to clear the diffuser, and the sides appear wider than the original P1 allowing for wider wheels.

No performance stats have been released for the P1 GTR but McLaren says the car will to make 986 horsepower. For comparison, the original P1 makes 903 horsepower and can go from 0-100km/h in just 2.8 seconds with a top speed of 350km/h.

With more power and no road regulations or limiters to hold the P1 GTR back, you can bet those numbers will be even crazier.

The P1 GTR will debut at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on August 15. However, production of the P1 GTR won't actually begin until June 2015, when the last of the 375 P1 road cars is built.

The P1 GTR will also include a comprehensive set of driver training, events, and trackside support. However, it will only be offered to existing P1 customers and its price tag will is expected to be well over US$3 million.
