Belgians are using social media to reach out and help those affected by the deadly attacks in Brussels.

Using the hashtags #OpenHouse and #PorteOuverte, as well as #IkWilhelpen, Belgians are offering places to stay, as well as transportation, to those who have been stranded by the attacks on the city’s subway system and airport.

#PorteOuverte, French for “open door,” was used in the aftermath of the deadly attacks in Paris last November.

#IkWilhelpen, or "I want to help," is also being used to reach out on Twitter.

The tweet translates to “People who are stuck in Anderlecht here is a place to stay (dilbeek near Westland).”

A Twitter account was also set up to help stranded passengers link up with drivers and carpools who have free seats. The account, called BrusselsLift, was regularly retweeting people in search of rides, as well as motorists offering lifts.
