It’s a sunny Easter Monday throughout Manitoba, but daytime temperatures are still below seasonal normals for this time of year. A high of -3 C in Winnipeg today under mainly clear skies and winds out of the northwest. The normal high for early April is 7 C. Similar temperatures and conditions are expected across the province to start the week; however, another Alberta clipper is on its way. The system will move into central and southern Manitoba on Tuesday with periods of light snow and gusting southeast winds in the afternoon. Snow and possibly freezing rain is expected to fall throughout Wednesday. Parts of western Manitoba could see around 15 centimetres when all is said and done, though some forecast models suggest 25 centimetres isn’t out of the question. Meantime, Winnipeg and the surrounding region will likely see closer to 5 centimetres. Environment and Climate Change Canada hasn’t issued a special weather statement for Manitoba as of Monday afternoon, but that could change as the clipper draws nearer. Temperatures should start climbing as we head into the weekend with daytime highs in the low teens on Saturday under a mix of sun and cloud.
