Thousands of Manitobans gathered to mark the start of Pride Month on Sunday. The annual Pride Parade marched through downtown Winnipeg, drawing thousands to show support for equality and tolerance. This year’s pride marshals include married couple Mira Kopiova and Jamie Komarniski, Jim Kane and youth marshal Phoenix Harper. More than 150 groups are marching in the parade this year, including the Rainbow Resource Centre, Bahaghari Pride Manitoba and Rainbow Outpatient Addiction Recovery. The parade followed a rally at the Manitoba Legislature and will end at Blue Cross Park. The Winnipeg Pride Festival is taking place at The Forks.
