It was a night to remember for the Winnipeg Goldeyes as they set a franchise record in dramatic fashion. Entering Thursday, the Fish had won 11 straight, tying a franchise record for consecutive wins set in 2014. They got off to an early 3-0 against the Chicago Dogs, all runs coming in the first inning. But Chicago would claw their way back into the game, eventually taking the lead in the fifth. The Goldeyes wouldn’t let history slip away as they responded in the seventh with three more runs to make it a 6-4 contest. The two teams traded runs in the eighth and in the end, the Goldeyes would come out victorious 7-5, securing a record in the history books. The feat isn’t over just yet, as they can extend that record Friday, as they travel to Lincoln to take on the Saltdogs. If their winning ways continue, they could soon snag the league record of 15 consecutive wins, which was set in 2010 by the Pensacola Pelicans.
