Manitoba RCMP has made an arrest following a violent, hours-long assault over the weekend. Mounties said the attack happened early Sunday morning at a home in Chemawawin Cree Nation, which is about two hours southeast of The Pas, Man. Police said a female victim was punched, kicked and struck with various weapons by a man she knew during the prolonged attack. Mounties said the victim managed to escape and called RCMP at around 9:45 a.m. She was taken to hospital with several non-life-threatening injuries. RCMP previously issued a warrant for Darren Lachose, a 33-year-old man. He faces numerous charges, including aggravated sexual assault, aggravated assault and forcible confinement. On Tuesday, police announced Lachose was arrested at a home on Chemawawin Cree Nation on Monday evening. The charges against him have not been proven in court.
