Tourists are spending record amounts of money in Manitoba, with the province raking in $1.89 billion in 2024. Travel Manitoba said this is the third year in a row tourism spending has set new records and the organization’s annual report said 10. 6 million people visited Manitoba in 2024, 200 thousand more than the previous year. Sales of non-residential fishing licenses sold also set a new record, with sales up 34 per cent since the program was founded in 2022-23 However, officials are warning these robust numbers may not hold in 2025. In a release, Travel Manitoba interim board chair Tim Johnston writes, “Impacts of the worst wildfire season in 30 years, coupled with growing political and economic uncertainty, are being felt across the tourism industry.” Despite the challenges, Travel Manitoba says the industry remains focused on sustainable growth.
