Three new presumptive COVID-19 cases in Manitoba

WINNIPEG — Health officials with the province announced on Sunday that there are three new presumptive cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba.

That brings the province's total to seven, four of which are laboratory-confirmed.

The fifth case is a man in his 70s from Winnipeg, the sixth is a woman in her 70s who lives in a community in the area of the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority, and the seventh case is a woman in her 50s.

It's believed all three were exposed to the virus through recent travel.

Dr. Brent Roussin, who is the chief provincial public health officer, said one of the cases is in Winnipeg, and another is in the Interlake Region.

Roussin is advising Manitobans not to travel internationally, and if anyone is returning from an international trip, they are being advised to self-isolate for 14 days.

"Almost all cases in Canada are somewhat related to travel," said Roussin.

Roussin is also reminding Manitobans that not all people need to be tested for COVID-19. Only those showing symptoms are being asked to be tested.
