Three new measles exposure sites identified in Manitoba

Three more measles exposure sites are being identified by the province.

In Steinbach, the Bethesda Regional Health Centre’s emergency department waiting room is being reported as a possible exposure location. The province is asking people who were there anytime between Dec. 27 from 8:30 p.m. until Dec. 28 at 2 a.m. to monitor for symptoms for three weeks.

In Morden, Menzies Medical Centre is being identified as being a possible site on three days. Those at the centre on Dec. 29 or 30 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or on Dec. 31 between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. are asked to monitor for symptoms.

In St-Pierre-Jolys, people who were at the Centre médico-social De Salaberry District Health Centre on Dec. 31 from 1:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. are also being asked to monitor for symptoms for three weeks.

Measles symptoms could include fever, runny nose, drowsiness, irritability and red eyes. The province said small, white spots may appear inside the mouth or throat, with a red, blotchy rash later showing up on the face that progresses down the body.

It’s asking people to ensure their immunizations records are up to date with the measles vaccine.
