An 86-year-old man is dead following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 8 Thursday afternoon. According to RCMP, officers from Gimli were called to a crash on Highway 8 at Provincial Road 229 at 2:40 p.m. When they arrived, they saw a heavily damaged sedan in the southwest ditch and a pickup truck with extensive damage to its front end on the highway. According to RCMP, the sedan was being driven west on Provincial Road 229 when it collided with the pickup truck that was heading south on Highway 8. The driver of the sedan, an 86-year-old man from Teulon, was pronounced dead at the scene. The pickup truck’s driver, a 48-year-old man from Niverville, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later discharged. The crash remains under investigation.
