Thursday will be a hot, humid, sunny, and potentially smoky day in Winnipeg and much of southern Manitoba. Highs close to 30 C with humidex values in the upper 30s are in store across the region this afternoon. Smoke from wildfires or haze could return on Thursday, including in Winnipeg where smoke resurfaced for a few hours on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has continued a yellow warning for air quality Thursday for parts of northern and central Manitoba. The warning has ended for the Tadoule Lake region. ECCC said smoke levels in the south, though elevated, aren’t high enough to trigger an air quality warning. Still, be vigilant, particularly if you have any respiratory-related health concerns. In addition to smoke, heat and humidity will stretch well in northwestern Manitoba on Thursday. Daytime highs are forecast to reach 29 C in The Pas and Flin Flon, with humidex values in the low 30s. Showers or thunderstorms are most likely Thursday afternoon around Thompson and Norway House, before they are expected to spread across several northern regions tonight and on Friday. Thunderstorms are also crossing northwestern Ontario on Thursday. It will also be a hot, humid and possibly smoky day across the region. In Winnipeg, be prepared for hot temperatures hovering around 30 C until at least the middle of next week.
