Multiple firearms were seized after a report of a man allegedly shooting dogs was made in Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation. On Wednesday, officers of the Manitoba First Nations Police Service were sent to the townsite area of Sandy Bay after a report was made about a man driving around, allegedly shooting dogs. Police said one dog was critically injured. A search warrant was carried out at a home on Center Road in the First Nation and police seized multiple firearms. “Police are aware of a social media video concerning aggressive dogs; however, this does not justify individuals carrying or using firearms in highly populated areas where children and other community members may be present, particularly without proper licensing, authorization and training,” police said in a media release. The service is advising community members to report concerns about aggressive dogs to local First Nation Safety Officers to address the matter.
