A 36-year-old man armed with a baseball bat is facing charges after allegedly spitting on a police officer and refusing to provide his name. Around 10:20 a.m. yesterday, Winnipeg Police Service officers from the North District General Patrol unit arrested the man after he was seen acting erratically and swinging a bat in the 300 block of Selkirk Avenue. Officers confronted him, and during the arrest, police say the man spat on an officer and refused to identify himself. Officers deployed multiple tasers before taking him into custody. He is charged with weapons offences and assaulting a peace officer. He remains in custody.
