Heavy rain, reports of hail and three tornadoes touched down in Manitoba on Tuesday during a major spring thunderstorm. According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), localized flooding was reported in Carman and Ste. Rose du Lac, with much of southwestern Manitoba and the Red River Valley receiving between 20 and 30 millimetres of rain. Higher precipitation totals were seen in Winkler, which got 52 millimetres as of Tuesday evening; Manitou, which was hit with 47 millimetres, and Emerson, which received 38 millimetres of rain. Looking in Winnipeg, the southern and eastern parts of the city received the most rainfall Tuesday. The Whyte Ridge area received 27.4 mm, followed closely by Windsor Park at 23.6 mm, Island Lakes at 23.5 mm and Southdale at 22.2 mm, according to data from the city. Meanwhile, Brooklands and Little Mountain Park received the least amount of rain, each receiving 10.2 mm. CTV News previously reported the storm brought three tornadoes to the province, including one southeast of Dauphin and two south of Carman.
