Willard Reaves launched his bid for Manitoba Liberal leadership at the Legislative Building on Sunday. He said he wants to make a difference in the lives of all Manitobans, adding that his calling is to help people. “We need to change the way we do our politics,” he said. “We need to stop opposing everything that someone brings up and work together to get a solution. “We have lots of problems here, lots of problems, and the only way we can do it is by being together.” Reaves was named deputy leader of the Manitoba Liberals in November 2023 but stepped down in June 2024. He also ran in the 2022 Fort Whyte byelection but lost to Obby Khan. Reaves ran again in the 2023 general election and was defeated a second time. The Manitoba Liberals will choose their new leader on Oct. 25 at their 2025 leadership convention.
