First trailer released for Manitoba-shot holiday horror remake

The trailer for 'Silent Night, Deadly Night,' filmed in Manitoba this year, was recently released.

Horror fans got a first look at an ‘80s slasher flick remake shot in Manitoba.

“Silent Night, Deadly Night” is billed as a twisted reimagining of the controversial cult classic. After witnessing his parents’ brutal murder on Christmas Eve by a man in a Santa suit, Billy transforms into a killer St. Nick to go on a yearly spree of chilling violence.

The remake was shot throughout rural Manitoba in April, with Winnipeg, Selkirk, Stonewall, and St. Adolphe serving as the bloody backdrop for Billy’s axe-wielding antics.

After a secret screening in September at the Austin, Texas film festival Fantastic Fest, a first trailer was released online, racking up millions of views in a number of days.

“Silent Night, Deadly Night” is slated to hit theatres Dec. 12.
