Winnipeg firefighters were kept busy with a fire involving industrial equipment Wednesday morning. Members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) saw smoke while returning from a call at 6:10 a.m. They then found a “significant” fire involving shipping containers and industrial equipment in the 500 block of Messier Street. The fire was brought under control at 6:47 a.m. Train traffic in the area was temporarily halted as a precaution due to the fire’s proximity to rail lines. The WFPS said no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation and damage estimates were not available.
