Strong and gusty northwest winds won’t hold back unseasonably warm temperatures in southern Manitoba Wednesday. The winds are associated with a cold front crossing the south that Environment and Climate Change Canada said could bring a few showers or thunderstorms this afternoon. That aside, the south will see sunshine or a mix of sun and cloud, with daytime highs in the upper teens Wednesday. That is cooler than Monday and Tuesday’s highs in the low 20s, but still unseasonably warm for early October. North-central and northeastern regions could see scattered showers Wednesday, according to the weather agency. Those areas will only see single-digits highs this afternoon. Much of the northwest and central regions will see sunshine with much warmer temperatures approaching the mid-teens Wednesday. Showers are possible across northwestern Ontario Wednesday afternoon and evening. Thunderstorms can’t be ruled out either. Otherwise, the region will see a mix of sun and cloud, with highs in the low to mid-teens in strong and gusty northwest winds.
