It is an unseasonably warm second day of September Wednesday across Manitoba and northwestern Ontario. Much of southern Manitoba will enjoy a mix of sun and cloud with afternoon highs in the mid-20s. Humidex values will make it feel like the upper 20s. That said, heat and humidity will both rise as the Labour Day long weekend approaches. Most northern parts of the province will also see a mix of sun and cloud Wednesday, with afternoon temperatures reaching the low 20s. Northwestern, central and eastern areas of the province could also be grazed with afternoon showers, although the chance is low. Northwestern Ontario will enjoy unseasonably high temperatures in the mid-20s Wednesday, but not much sunshine. Weather conditions will be uneventful in Manitoba Wednesday night. Many areas, particularly in the south, will be fairly clear. Thursday will be a different story. As heat and humidity build west of Manitoba, showers and thunderstorms are expected in southern Saskatchewan Wednesday that could reach southwestern Manitoba by Thursday morning, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada. The weather agency said showers and thunderstorms will likely track across Manitoba on Thursday, supported by humid air accompanying a warm front. As the warm front approaches, look for heat, humidity and dew points to climb in Manitoba as we head into the long weekend. We could be in for a stormy Saturday.
