You couldn’t ask for much nicer late-summer weather across most of Manitoba and northwestern Ontario on Wednesday. In Winnipeg and across southern Manitoba, the sun is shining and temperatures are rising, with daytime highs between 23 C and 25 C expected. Humidex values across the south will feel closer to 27. If you’re hitting the links or otherwise getting outside to soak up the sun, the only fly in the meteorological ointment Wednesday will be the winds. Northwest winds will be gusty this afternoon. Much of northern Manitoba will also enjoy sunshine or a mix of sun and cloud Wednesday, with afternoon highs in the upper teens and low 20s. Soggier skies are expected, with showers or drizzle possible from Gillam through Churchill to Tadoule Lake. In northwestern Ontario, daytime highs will reach around 23 C or 24 C Wednesday, with gusty northwest winds expected. Kenora and Sioux Lookout will see more sunshine than cloudier Dryden and Fort Frances. Sunny mid-20s highs will return to Winnipeg on Thursday and Friday, before temperatures soar into the upper 20s throughout the last weekend of August. Summer isn’t finished with us just yet.
